Rawl played by Greg Kelley
Marjorie played by Emma Hartley-Miller
Patricia played by Lisa Whiteside
Terry played by Zoe Iqbal
Directed by Darren Gordon Extremities by William Masterosimone set in 1970s America was always going to provoke a reaction.
Following an attempted rape Marjorie captures her attacker Rawl and proceeds to take justice in to her own hands, much to the distress of her housemates Patricia and Terry who return home to find a man bound in their fireplace.
The play centres around the conflict caused by the unusual situation the four characters find themselves in. While Marjorie is intent on inflicting her idea of ‘justice’ the question raised is ‘Does the means justify the end?’
Marjoire reaches an all time low when Rawl manages to convince Terry and Patricia that she original encouraged his advances, and as a naturally dislikeable character it leaves Terry, Patricia and the audience with an uncomfortable decision to make.
As actors this piece was emotionally and physically challenging but this is precisely why we choose Extremities as our debut. There were tears, one or two tantrums and many many bruises! Due to the subject matter Extremities was emotionally and physically challenging and demanded an abundance of energy, enthusiasm and trust. Relationships were tried and tested and I’m pleased to say that due to casts friendship and the directors patience, Sparkplug Productions lives to fight another performance. |
